dress for my funeral
as if it is the first
day of spring,
the mythical dogwood white,
the fragrant damp earth,
the newborns unfurling in green
come quickly,
or not at all,
I cannot care
shut away the remains,
or burn what's left
to ash....
Ishtar,
what is a resurrection
without a few laughs?
this! - i LOVE!

oh, and the importance of i cannot care. yes! yes! this line itself is of SUCH importance! it both provokes me and causes me to lie down with great humility.

ReplyDeleteI may want to say the same thing, but I do know the pain left behind. A pain that can't find any solace. Yet, life ends and when it ends it doesn't care, the dead doesn't care.Only the living grieve and are lost in their loss.
